About

Healthy Eating Shouldn’t Feel Complicated.

Food & Calories is a health and wellness company helping Nigerians make better food choices through practical, culturally relevant nutrition.

We believe eating well shouldn’t mean abandoning the foods you grew up with or following diets that don’t fit your lifestyle.

Instead, we help you understand your food, your portions and your habits — and show you how familiar Nigerian and African meals can fit into a healthier lifestyle.

Why Foods & Calories Exists

For many Nigerians, the advice to “eat healthy” can feel disconnected from real life.

We’re told to eat foods that may be unfamiliar, expensive or difficult to maintain. We’re given complicated diet rules, extreme restrictions and meal plans that don’t always reflect our culture, routines or the foods available to us.

We believe there is a better way.

At Foods & Calories, we make nutrition practical.

We take evidence-informed nutrition principles and translate them into everyday choices that make sense for Nigerian and African lifestyles.

Because healthy eating shouldn’t only work on paper.

It should work in your kitchen, at your workplace and in your everyday life.

Our Philosophy

You Don’t Need To Give Up Your Culture To Eat Well.

  • Rice can be part of a healthy meal.
  • Beans can be part of a healthy meal.
  • Yam can be part of a healthy meal.
  • Plantain can be part of a healthy meal.

The goal isn’t to label familiar foods as “good” or “bad.”

It’s about understanding balance, portions, preparation, variety and consistency.

We help you develop a healthier relationship with food — one that is realistic enough to maintain beyond a 7-day or 30-day challenge.

03 — Personalise

Where needed, we tailor your nutrition guidance and meal planning around your individual circumstances.

04 — Support

Our Mission

Helping Nigerians Take Control of Their Health Through Food.

Our mission is to empower Nigerians to make informed decisions about their food, understand their nutritional needs and build healthier lifestyles using practical, culturally relevant nutrition.

We aim to support healthier living and contribute to the prevention and management of lifestyle-related health concerns through nutrition education, personalized support and sustainable lifestyle habits.

Our Commitment

Culturally Relevant

We design nutrition education and support around the foods, habits and realities of Nigerian and African lifestyles.

Evidence-Informed

Our approach is grounded in nutrition and health knowledge while recognising that individual needs differ.

Practical

We focus on recommendations that people can realistically apply to their everyday lives.

Sustainable

We believe lasting health improvements come from habits that can be maintained; not temporary extremes.

Human

Behind every nutrition goal is a real person. We listen, educate and support without judgement.

Creating Healthier Communities

Our work goes beyond individual meal plans.

Through nutrition challenges, digital education, community programmes and wellness initiatives, we’re working to make practical nutrition knowledge more accessible.

We believe that when people understand their food, they become better equipped to make healthier choices for themselves, their families and their communities.
